Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Local Businesses in Garda
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or municipal police.
How to recognize scams and how to react
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by those who,
despite having money, no longer show up or make contact.
