Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Businesses in Garda Region
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, stay vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
