Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when telephoning hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to Arma magazines.

These are not military personnel, but criminals who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
