Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
