Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
How to Recognize Scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are targeted by individuals who,
if they had money, would no longer appear.
