Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to police-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after collecting the money, disappear without a trace.
