Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military-related magazines.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear.
