Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone contact with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigades, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

So be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
