Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by individuals who,
