Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often promote subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,
