Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners
They pose as Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not members of the military but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
with money, no longer shows up.
