Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Business Owners

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after receiving money, disappear.
