Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
