Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance division, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
