Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or to the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, tend to disappear quickly.
