Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or the Comune (municipal police).

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they are after money, cease to appear.
