Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
