Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not law enforcement officers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal officers.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer makes themselves visible.
