Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Hoteliers and Traders

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigades, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by such individuals,

who, once they have received the money, disappear without a trace.
