Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Region Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, do not show themselves again.
