Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Retailers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazine publications of the force.

These are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they had money, they would no longer show themselves.
