Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shop Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, stop appearing.
