Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shop Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions related to the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have fallen victim to someone who,

would demand money and then disappear.
