Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the armed forces‘ publications.

These individuals are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately call the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,
