Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the forces’ magazines.

These are not military personnel, but con artists who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, the police, firefighters, or the Comune vigilantes.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
