Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the corps’s magazines.

These are not real military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s guards.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
