Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Hoteliers and Vendors

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s officials.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining money, no longer make their presence known.
