Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Local Business Owners

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be careful and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
