Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the army’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

Recognizing Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,

having money, no longer shows themselves.
