Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses in Garda Area

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who, after receiving money, disappears.
