Scammers Impersonate Law Enforcement in Garda Phone Calls

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just call 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears and no longer appears.
