Scammers Impersonate Law Enforcement to Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not actually military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to magazines that do not exist or that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

withdrew money, disappears and no longer shows up.
