Scammers Impersonate Police and Army Officials in Garda Regions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the army‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the financial police, police force, firefighters, or the Municipal Police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those completely unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,

if they were after money, no longer appear.
