Scammers Impersonate Police and Military for Fraud in Garda Area

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri— just dial 112— as soon as you sense that you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer appears.
