Scammers Impersonate Police for Garda-area Magazine Subscription Fraud

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but criminals who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or local municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by someone who,
