Scammers Impersonate Police for Garda Region Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners in the middle and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking your money, then disappear.
