Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda Area to Pitch Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri— by calling 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
after obtaining money, do not show up again.
