Scammers Impersonate Police in Garda for Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police (vigili del comune).

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement (forze dell’ordine).

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone

who said they had money but then disappears.
