Scammers Impersonate Police to Fool Garda Businesses and Consumers

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, exercise caution and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
