Scammers Impersonate Police to Fraudulently Sell Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
