Scammers Impersonate Police to Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army-related magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.

Identifying scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,
