Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions from the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

So, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they have money, disappear without a trace.
