Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the armed forces‘ magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
So, be cautious and immediately notify the true Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by someone who,
if they had money, would no longer show themselves.
