Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazines in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, ordinary police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they wanted money, would no longer show themselves.
