Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazines in Garda Area
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio e Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to the Arma magazines.
They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone,
who, if they have money, will no longer show up.
