Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

These individuals are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be alert and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
