Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Businesses and Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to police force magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you have the suspicion of being targeted by individuals who,

if they seek money, disappear without a trace.
