Scammers Pose as Police to Trick Garda Businesses into Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda region, offering subscriptions to police magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they ask for money, will disappear without a trace.
