Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, proposing subscriptions to the carabinieri magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance police, general police, fire brigade, or the Comune‘s Vigili.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately inform the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer appear.
