Scammers Impersonate Police to Target Garda Hoteliers and Shops

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, police, fire brigade, or the Comune (Municipal Police).

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— by calling 112— as soon as you suspect you are being targeted by whoever,

who, after obtaining money, no longer shows up.
